Dental Benefits
In an effort to provide Orange & Rockland retirees and their dependents access to dental benefits, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (MetLife) is offering a retiree dental program. If you recently retired or you and your spouse have continuously been covered under another employer group dental program since your retirement. You can enroll by contacting HR Assistance at 1-800-582-5056.
Dental coverage through MetLife is offered to retirees upon their retirement. Management retirees are eligible to elect a basic or premium plan upon their retirement and are eligible to change their elections each year during Open Enrollment. Hourly retirees are eligible for the basic dental plan option.
Retirees can use the MetLife Preferred Dentist Program (PDP) consisting of a national network of more than 45,000 general and specialty participating dentists. Participating dentists in the network have agreed to reduce their fees for services provided to participants. The fee reduction typically ranges between 10-30 percent.
Both Basic and Premium plans cover preventative care at 100%.
The program pays a maximum of $1,000 per person each year under the Basic option and $1,500 per person under the Premium option for covered dental services. There is no coverage for orthodontia services. There are no annual deductibles, and covered services are payable as follows:
